Oronoco, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is trying to find a man who stole a vehicle from a rural home while the owners watched.

A patrol deputy first spotted the man when he sped by driving a pickup truck at more than 80 miles per hour on White Bridge Rd near Oronoco around 9:00 AM Sunday. The deputy followed the man but he refused to stop and eventually drove into a farm field along 25th Ave. The deputy saw the man run off on foot and called in more officers.

A short while later a nearby homeowner (in the 12,000 block of Power Dam Rd) called to report a man had just walked into his garage and stole his vehicle. The vehicle was found several hours later abandoned in Wabasha County.

The truck the man had been driving was traced to a St Charles woman who said she had sold it on Christmas Day.

The owner of the stolen car later sent a photo of the thief that shows the man getting ready to enter the garage.
