Over 40 People Rescued From Flooded Minnesota Restaurant
Waite Park, MN (KROC AM News) - Over 40 people that were stranded inside a restaurant after flash flooding had to be rescued by crews in central Minnesota over the weekend.
According to the St. Cloud Times, 44 people were stuck inside Anton's restaurant when the Sauk River rose Saturday night around 7:30 p.m.
Waite Park Fire Chief Jim Aleshire told the St. Cloud Times that about 44 people were stranded. The Fire Department requested mutual aid from St. Joseph and St. Cloud. First responders used three boats to get everyone to safety, by around 9:30 p.m.
Betzy Gaetz, one of the business's owners, said that the flood happened so quickly that people did not have time to move anything. Gaetz also said that flooding usually happens but she has never seen anything like this.
The Times also reported that the water was started to recede as of Saturday night.
