If you've been hoping for a white Christmas, your hopes may be answered later this week in southeast Minnesota!

Even though Friday is only three days away, it's still a little too early to sound all the alarms and bells but several weather forecasters in our neck of the woods here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes are keeping their eye on a winter storm that could drop over a half a foot of snow.

Like I said, it's still a little too early to say for sure, but the Weather Channel 10 Day Forecast for Rochester is calling for snow through the day on Friday, with 3 to 5 inches of the white stuff possible through the day. Then, the Weather Channel forecast also calls for the possibility of another 1 to 3 inches Friday night. So, if you're scoring along at home, that's 4 to 8 inches of snow we'll need to shovel on Saturday.

Because the exact track of that possible storm is still uncertain as of Tuesday morning, I did a little checking with other Rochester forecasters to see what they were predicting. And, sure enough, the KTTC-TV weather page had a similar forecast, though they're expecting heavier snow to fall Friday night. Their forecast said "snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches" through the day Friday, with "snow accumulating 3 to 5 inches" Friday night, for a similar total between 4 to 8 inches.

Now, just to balance things out, the official forecast from the National Weather Service in La Crosse isn't jumping on those big snowfall totals just yet. As of Tuesday morning, their forecast just calls for 70 percent of 'precipitation' during the day Friday and 60 percent likely Friday night-- but there weren't any snowfall totals listed. Stay tuned-- and grab the shovels!
