• Anyplace America says there are 584 islands in Minnesota across lakes and rivers (not just Lake of the Woods) by county.
• The US Islands Awards Program database shows at least 141 named islands in Minnesota waters as of late 2025.
• And Wikipedia notes that Lake Vermilion alone has 365 islands within its waters!
