Attention thrill seekers, a new record-breaking roller coaster will open in the Midwest next year that will send you over the edge, literally.

Coaster with a Great Lakes Theme

The new coaster is set to open in early summer 2025, and it will be the tallest, fastest, and longest "tilt" roller coaster in North America. The new coaster called "Siren's Curse" will be themed after the "legend and lore of mysterious creatures living beneath the surface" of the Great Lakes.

Record-Breaking Coaster in the Midwest

Riders will experience a thrill when they climb 160-feet only to find a "broken off" section of track that will slowly tilt riders to a 90-degree vertical position, hold them for a few seconds, and then send them straight down into the rest of the 2,966 feet of track.

Opening at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, the new coaster will send riders screaming through the ride at a top speed of 58 mph. Those brave enough will experience "13 weightless airtime moments, two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a high-speed triple-down element with twisted and overbanked track".

More Than Just a Roller Coaster

The ride's two 24-passanger trains will be equipped with audio elements and LED lighting, adding to the immersive experience of the coaster.

In a press release, Cedar Point says, "The sirens of the lake who lured sailors to their underwater demise with their sweet, seductive songs will finally rise to land and attempt to entrap guests in a sinister two-minute fate of non-stop roller coaster innovation."

Cedar Point was once the parent company of Minnesota's Valleyfair amusement park, but both parks are now owned and operated by Six Flags. Known as the "Coaster Capital of the World", Cedar Point has an impressive collection of 19 world-class coasters, and it's definitely worth a trip for coaster fans.
