It has rung bells across the college hockey world, St. Cloud Head Coach Bob Motzko is headed to the University of Minnesota to coach the Gophers.

Brandon Mileski of KFAN broke the news first on the signs pointing to Motzko headed to Gopher Hockey via Twitter.

Motzko is a native of Austin, Minnesota, and was an assistant coach for the Gophers under Don Lucia from 2001-02 through 2004-05, helping the squad to back-to-back National Titles and another Frozen Four appearance in 2005.

Motzko graduated from St. Cloud State in 1987 and took over the coaching duties in 2005, where he held a record of 276-192-49. The seasoned coach has also had stops as a coach for Miami (Ohio) and Denver.

His Huskies squad went to the Frozen Four in 2013, and lose in three other regional finals to Wisconsin in 2010, Minnesota in 2014 and North Dakota in 2015, according to the Star Tribune.
