Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Public Works Department Thursday released a list of road, bridge and trail projects that are scheduled to be worked on during the 2019 construction season.

The largest is the reconstruction of North Broadway between Civic Center Dr. and Silver Lake.

Work this year will actually affect the alleys on both sides of Broadway. Work on the roadway of that section of Broadway will take place next year. The project’s cost is $19.1-million. The goal of the project is to “begin the transformation of the Broadway Avenue corridor into a significant multi-modal gateway to downtown Rochester.”

Another significant project scheduled to begin this year is the rehab and upgrading of 6th and 7th avenues between 2nd St SW and 5th St NW. That $5.9-million project is expected to continue into next year.

And, the 4th St SW project in the downtown that was scheduled to be completed last year is expected to be completed this year.

A notable bridge project will take place this year. The city says the historic 7th St NE bridge in the Silver Lake area will be completely rehabilitated. The project also calls for an overhaul of 7th St. between the bridge and 11th Ave NE that will include the addition of buffered bicycle lanes.

Other projects include:

· Dedicated Bike Lanes on 3rd & 4th Avenues and Center Street – (August 2019 to July 2020)
The project includes the addition of bicycle lanes along Center Street from 6th Avenue SW to the Zumbro River bridge; along 3rd Avenue SW/NW and 4th Avenue SW/NW from Soldiers Field to 5th Street NW. The goal of the project is to provide safe, comfortable and convenient bicycle access to and through downtown Rochester for bicyclists of all ages and abilities.

· Trail Project: Highway 14 East – (Spring 2019 to Summer 2019)
A multi-use path will be constructed along Highway 14 from Marion Road/15th Avenue SE to East Circle Drive and along College Drive SE from Highway 14 to 8½ Street SE. This trail will connect Eastwood Plaza, Rochester Community and Technical College and the surrounding neighborhoods.

· Trail Project: West Circle Drive from 41st Street NW to the Douglas Trail –(Spring 2019-Summer 2019)
A 10-foot wide multi-use path along the east side of West Circle Drive NW will be completed in 2019. This multi-use path will be separate from the roadway.
