Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who accidentally ran over his girlfriend last year has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide.

The deadly accident happened Sept 17 while 39-year-old Emily Jacobsen was looking for her cat.

Police said she was run over and dragged an unknown distance while in an alley near her home. The truck was driven by 41-year-old Dewain Siewert. He told police the two were looking for their cat and Jacobsen was apparently on her hands and knees looking under a boat when she was run over. Jacobsen died the next day.

According to the criminal complaint, Siewert admitted smoking some methamphetamine a few hours before the accident. Test results showed traces of amphetamine and methamphetamine in his blood at the time.

He has been ordered to make his first court appearance in May.
