Rochester Cat Has Been Looking for a Special Home for Over a Year
It makes me so sad to see amazing animals like this guy sit a wait for so long to find them their forever home. My husband and I both volunteer with the cats and dogs at Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester, Minnesota. We see so many amazing animals that are waiting patiently and this guy imparticular has been at Paws and Claws for quite a while.
He's a bigger black and white 5-year-old cat named Carson. He has been waiting at Paws and Claws since July of 2021 so over a year! All animals deserve to be in loving homes and while we love him at Paws and Claws he deserves to be in a home of his own.
Whenever I'm hanging out with the cats and Carson is out, he's always the sweetest. I just saw him about a week ago and he was meowing at me, rubbing up against my legs, he wanted to be pet, he wanted to be held, he wanted to be brushed. So needy! He can also be pretty playful so watch your hands when he decides he wants a toy.
But speaking of toys, those can be a little tricky. It's why Carson needs a special home and likely why he's been at Paws and Claws for as long as he has. Carson has this thing called pica. International Cat Care says pica is "a term used to describe the consumption of non-edible materials." In Carson's case, he eats cloth which has landed him at the vet too many times to get objects removed. Paws and Claws writes in his bio that he is taking medicine for the pica. I don't know how much that has helped with his issue but definitely something worth asking about if you're interested in him.
So while Carson is a super sweet guy he will need a home that is able to keep him safe. He can't have blankets to sleep on at Paws and Claws (don't worry, he has this poofy bed he gets to sleep on). He also can't have soft toys or anything like that. I'm not sure how he would respond to pillows or curtains, but it would definitely be something his future home needs to be very aware of.
If you're interested in learning more about Carson you can check out Paws and Claws' website or submit an application online to come visit him. Or if you're not able to adopt right now but know someone who is looking, share Carson's story!
