Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - There has been another development in the search for a new Rochester police chief - which could mean another delay in the selection process.

The city’s Police Civil Service Commission last week voted to remove candidate “B” from the list of eligible finalists after being told he had failed to disclose a disciplinary issue on his application. Commission chair Jodi Grimm said the new background check report also showed other information that had not been provided.

City Human Resources Director Linda Hillenbrand says that candidate is now appealing the commission’s decision and may appear in person to make his case (“At this point, I believe the candidate is planning to attend in person.”).

Hillenbrand says the appeal is scheduled to be heard by the commission June 5th.

Three finalists were selected for the position in late March.
