Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School District and the union representing its teachers have worked out a tentative agreement on a new contract.

The terms of the tentative deal are not being made public until members of the Rochester Education Association have a chance to be briefed on the proposal and vote on it Wednesday evening. The two-year agreement would replace the school district’s previous teacher’s contract, which expired at the end of June last year but contained a provision that kept it in force while the negotiations on a new contract were ongoing.

The previous contract, which was ratified by the teachers in March 2016, included a 2.5-percent pay increase in the first year followed by a 3-percent increase in the second year of the contract.

It covers about half of the school district’s 3,000 employees.
