Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man today entered guilty pleas to three counts of second-degree murder.

30-year-old Renard Carter was accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend and her young daughter at their apartment in Rochester last fall. Several hours after the victims were found inside the residence on September 13th, Carter was captured in South Carolina, where he was shot and wounded by a police officer when he emerged from an apartment holding a BB gun.

The criminal complaint alleged he strangled 23-year-old Kiona Foote, which also resulted in the death of her unborn child, and also strangled her two-year-old daughter Miyona Miller. Afterward, Carter posted videos on social media that showed him committing one of the slayings.

Following today’s guilty plea by Carter, Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen issued the following statement.

“The victims’ family, the community and the Rochester Police Department will never forget the tragic murders of Miyona Miller, Keona Foote and her unborn child at the hands of Renard Carter. There is no amount of prison time that will erase the pain Carter has caused. We hope that today’s plea is a step forward in the healing process.”

Carter’s sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
