Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman was injured Friday evening in a traffic crash that occurred when a Goodhue County Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on Highway 52 in Cannon Falls.

The State Patrol says Deputy Mike Ayres was slowing down to initiate a routine traffic stop on northbound Highway 52 near the Highway 19 interchange, causing 44-year-old Tamara Opsahl to also reduce the speed of her car, which was then rear-ended by a pickup truck and that collision pushed the Rochester woman’s car into the back of the squad car.

Opsahl was taken to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Cannon Falls for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The State Patrol says Deputy Ayres and the pickup driver, 19-year-old Cole Valek, were not hurt. The crash was reported just before 7 PM.
