Rochester’s K9 Ninja Not Shown on ‘American Ninja Warrior’

Rochester’s own Roo Yori, known as the K9 Ninja for his work with homeless dogs, gave it good go — even if we didn’t see it — on American Ninja Warrior Monday night.

We all watched last year when Roo completely destroyed the Indianapolis course and qualified for the city finals, as well as a trip to the Las Vegas season finals.

He let us know earlier this year he was also invited to season 9, and traveled down to Kansas City earlier this spring to compete once again.

Well, Roo's Kansas City episode aired Monday, but, alas, his run wasn't shown. As he said on his K9 Ninja Facebook page:

"Hey everybody. Sorry they didn't show my run tonight. Unfortunately I came up short this year, and that's all she wrote for me on Season 9. I made it through the steps, through the slider, and over the balance obstacle. The balance is what I was most concerned with, and thought I was home free once I made it through that one. I cranked through all 3 sections of the Crank It Up obstacle, but underestimated the final move and peeled off on the lache down to the final stationary bar. That obstacle was a lot of moves, and I was a little more fatigued than expected. I felt I could still make the grab though, but unfortunately that's not what happened. I finished just outside of the top 30, and had I made that grab I would have advanced to the city finals."

We're still proud of you, Roo! Thanks for all you do on behalf of homeless dogs, too. We'll be watching for you on American Ninja Warrior next year!

And while the K9 Ninja's season might be over, he's not the only Rochester representative competing this season. Dr. Candace Granberg, a doctor at Mayo Clinic, also competed in the Denver competition, which is set to air later this summer. Hopefully her run will make it on the air!
