A ‘Scandal’ and ‘How to Get Away With Murder’ Crossover Is Happening at ABC
Olivia Pope, meet Annalise Keating. Shondaland may collapse in on itself before Scandal comes to an end, as Shonda Rhimes confirms that How to Get Away With Murder and Scandal will film two crossover episodes for the coming months.
Reports began that the two ABC series would share a long-awaited crossover when stars Kerry Washington and Viola Davis posted photos on Twitter; posing on one another’s sets. ABC wouldn’t initially confirm the posts as evidence of an actual crossover, until mutual creator Shonda Rhimes shared an official script page from the ongoing shoot:
As of yet, none of the Shondaland shows have gone full crossover, save for various publicity events and ABC promos. The Scandal episode was written by Raamla Mohamed and will be directed by star Tony Goldwyn, while the How to Get Away with Murder conclusion was written by Morenike Balogun and Sarah L. Thompson, and directed by Zetna Fuentes. New episodes of either series will resume on Thursday, January 18, though only Scandal is confirmed to end its run this coming season. Also worth noting – Rhimes herself will soon leave ABC behind for a multi-year Netflix deal to produce new series and other projects.
No details of the crossover’s airdate have yet been revealed, so stay tuned in the meantime.
