Chanhassen, MN (KROC AM News) - A line of storms moved through parts of south-central and east-central Minnesota early Friday.

The storms caused widespread damage in the Twin Cities area, especially in Richfield and other southern suburbs. Numerous trees and tree limbs were blown down and thousands of homes and businesses lost power. Wind gusts of 50 - 65 mph were reported to the National Weather Service.

A 4-year-old South Dakota girl who was camping with her family at a Mankato park was fatally injured when a tree branch fell on her tent around 2:30 am Friday, the same time a storm with winds of 35 mph struck the area.
