Twins Minor League prospect Ryan Costello was found dead over the weekend in New Zealand, where he had just arrived a week before. Costello was going to be playing for the Auckland Tuatara which is a team in the Australian Baseball League.

The Tuatara issued a news release yesterday on the untimely passing of Costello. According to the news release, Costello appears to have died of natural causes.

Costello was a 31st Round Pick by the Seattle Mariners in the 2017 June MLB Draft. Costello found his way to the Twins and started 2019 at the A level Fort Myers Miracle and moved up to the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos in June.

The Twins tweeted out earlier today their "most sincere condolences to Ryan's family, friends, coaches, and teammates."

Costello was just 23-years-old.
