Bradenton, FL (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Twins opened Grapefruit League play today in Florida with a win.

The Twins were in Bradenton to face the Pittsburgh Pirates in what turned out to be a pitching duel. Devin Smeltzer started the game on the mound for Minnesota with two perfect innings. Overall, the Twins pitchers had 11 strikes and allowed just 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks in the 2-1 victory.

The Twins batters managed to score their 2 runs on just six hits. 2 of the hits came off the bat of catcher Willians Astudillo, who also batted in one of the Twins runs.

The Twins face Toronto tomorrow, while the next Twins game broadcast on News-Talk 1340 KROC-AM and 96.9 FM will be on Monday at noon against the Red Sox.
