The Minnesota Twins are on FIIIIRE right now!

They have the best record in baseball, social media is looking for a nickname for the team and all their home runs they hit, and they just started a pitcher Devin Smeltzer who defeated childhood cancer and threw 6 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts against the brew-crew from Wisconsin. If you watched last night's game you were introduced to Devin's family who was wearing some great t-shirts. Fox Sports North play-by-play man Dick Bremer liked the shirt so much that he donated $1,000 just to have one. Wow!

Smeltzer's story doesn't begin with the Minnesota Twins as he was apart of the Brian Dozier trade to the LA Dodgers last year. But it goes back even further than that as Smeltzer was diagnosed with a
grapefruit-sized mass in his abdomen at the age of 9-year-old. His cancer has been in remission for the last 7 years according to this Jim Souhan article in the Star Tribune. What an experience for fans at Target Field last night, those who watched on television not only of the game itself but the story that was told off the field. Hats off to Dick Bremer for the donation and rocking the t-shirt during the broadcast.
