St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man from Mexico has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for a drug conviction stemming from the discovery of various contraband in his checked luggage at the Twin Cities airport.

According to federal court documents, Kevin Aguilar-Moreno was attempting to board a flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix in late October last year when TSA screeners discovered approximately 1 kilogram of methamphetamine, two pistols, an AR-15 type rifle with no serial number, along more than 240 rounds of ammunition. Federal prosecutors described the rifle as a so-called "ghost gun," which are difficult for law enforcement to track.

The criminal complaint against Aguilar-Moreno also notes that 39 of the bullets were armor-piercing ammunition. The luggage also contained eight rifle and handgun magazines.

Aguilar-Moreno, who previously pleaded guilty to a charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, admitted he obtained the drugs from a person in Red Wing and was planning to sell the drugs in Arizona.
