Buying the latest jersey of your favorite Minnesota pro athlete can get expensive. But a new service allows you to RENT them instead of buying them.

Why buy when you can rent, right? Renting works well if you're traveling out of town and need a place to stay or a vehicle to drive, or when you need a place to live but you don't want to buy your own house.

And, of course, tuxedo rentals have been a thing for weddings and other special events here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes and across the country for a while. And now you can rent a jersey of some of the most popular members of the Minnesota Wild if you're heading to a home game.

It's all thanks to Tarps Off Jersey Rental, a new business that opened earlier this year near the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, home of the Minnesota Wild. The business offers you the opportunity to rent a genuine Minnesota Wild jersey that you pick up (or have delivered to your house) before the game and then return again after the game is over.

Noah Beer, 26, owns and operates Tarps Off Jersey Rental. He told UniWatch that he got the idea for the business last spring when the Wild were in the NHL playoffs and several buddies asked to borrow one of his own jerseys to wear to the game.

Every single one of my jerseys was being borrowed by a buddy, or a buddy of a buddy, for those games. So the idea kind of came to me — like, people my age either don’t have jerseys or have outdated jerseys. So if people are asking me to borrow my jerseys, this is possibly an opportunity to make something out of it.

UniWatch noted that Beer now has 172 Wild jerseys available to rent for each Wild home game this season. The Tarps Off Jersey Rental website outlines the steps involved in renting a jersey:

  1. Select the date for the game you want to rent a jersey for
  2. Select the jersey you want to rent
  3. Select your method of pickup/delivery once you add to cart (more information below)
  4. Place Order
  5. Pickup jersey or await jersey shipment
  6. Return jersey when game ends to our pop-up shop outside of 214 7th St W, St Paul, MN 55102

With Minnesota Wild jersey prices starting at $174 on the official National Hockey League (NHL) website, renting a jersey for between $19.99 and $25 seems like a much more affordable idea!

Beer told WCCO that he could see expanding his business to include other pro sports (think Timberwolves Basketball or Twins Baseball) at some point, but is right now sticking solely with Wild jerseys.
