Okay, our sarcasm font is on right now, because a city you know pretty well right here in southeast Minnesota has just been named the healthiest in the country. Any guesses on which one it is?

Yep, that'd be us here in Rah-Rah-Rochester. (I know that's not the official Rochester tourism slogan anymore, but I can't stop using it.) A new report from 24/7 Wall Street has listed the 25 Healthiest Cities in America, and our own Rochester, Minnesota has come in at the top of their list.

The report ranked 25 major metro areas on various categories like obesity rates, premature death rates and percentage of the population having health insurance. And, we scored the highest in each of those categories, plus more.

The report noted, "Not only is Rochester, Minnesota, the healthiest city in the United States, but also it is the No. 1 city for older Americans." It also said that we also have only '2.7 physically unhealthy days a month, the least of any U.S. metro area,' the report stated.

Coming in just behind us here in the Med City on the 24/7 Wall Street report were Ames, Iowa (at #2), San Jose, California (#3), Logan, Utah (#4) and Provo/Orem, Utah (at #5).

I thought the report was somewhat interesting in that while it is all about which cities are the healthiest, it didn't even mention that Rochester-- this year's healthiest city in the country-- is home to the world-famous Mayo Clinic. That fact is usually splashed all OVER national surveys-- especially ones that deal with health and staying healthy, right?
