A Young Keith Urban Sings Dolly Parton’s ‘Applejack’

Sure, he's one of country music's top performers, and one of the best guitarists around. Sure, he's married to a movie star. Sure, he's a big-time judge on American Idol. But even Keith Urban had to start somewhere.

Yes, in this clip, which is estimated to be from around 1980, we see a young Keith Urban, who, at the time would most likely been between 10 and 13 years old, singing the Dolly Parton song, Applejack. It was apparently taken from an Australian show called, Reg Lindsay’s Country Homestead.

I'm not all that familiar with Dolly's version of the song, so it's hard to tell if Keith's rendition is faithful to the original or not. But even in this clip, you can see that famous Keith shoulder roll (which, if you've watched him on Idol, is a sure sign he's enjoying the music). I'm looking forward to seeing him at the Minnesota State Fair next month. I'm not sure he'll do this song, though...
