Do you remember what you were doing in the late afternoon on August 1st, 2007? That's when the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis collapsed, killing 13 people and injuring far more. And now, a film crew from here in Minnesota has recreated those terrifying moments for a new TV show that aired over the weekend.

I was living in Eau Claire, Wis. at the time of the collapse and had returned home earlier that day from a week-long baseball vacation out east. I couldn't believe the news I was seeing from the Twin Cities-- a similar reaction we probably all share. According to a story in BringMeTheNews.com, "Andy and Maria Awes of Committee Films put together the show, which profiles stories of survival, for a new ABC television documentary series called “In an Instant.” The series looks into “epic stories of survival,” and the Awes are tapping into their news background to tell the stories. Maria is a former WCCO producer."  

The story says the Committee Films crew even recreated the collapse scenes in an empty parking lot in the Twin Cities-- and made it look so real, some people believed the bridge had collapsed all over again. In case you missed it (as I did), here's a look at some of the stories...
