The U.S. Olympic team visited the White House last week, and were reportedly told that they were not allowed to take a selfie with President Obama.  And it might be because Boston Red Sox (and former Minnesota Twins) star David Ortiz ruined it for everyone else.

During his own White House visit last week, Ortiz took a selfie with the president.  What he didn't mention was that he had a deal with Samsung, and they used the photo as a promotional device.  The White House was NOT happy with that.

Still, Samsung and Ortiz claim the selfie idea wasn't set up in advance-- it just happened, they say.  And if there IS a ban on selfies at the White House, nobody there is admitting it.

reports that a White House spokesperson said while officials were unhappy with the Ortiz/Obama picture, there aren't any plans forthcoming that would ban selfies.
