I don't know about you, but I always days like today when the humidity and dew points are low and things feel much more comfortable. But don't get used to it, though-- it looks like this weather won't be here too long.

According to an article in the Washington Post, most of the country is due to heat up next week, thanks to a big high pressure system over the desert southwest that will create a 'heat dome' over much of the midwest-- including us here in Minnesota.

In fact, the paper says that next week's weather is shaping up to be the “most significant heat wave of the summer” and that temperatures could range from the 90s to over 100 degrees in some spots.

Even the National Weather Service seems to agree with the article, noting that the majority of Minnesota has chances in the 80 to 90 percent range of experiencing above-average temperatures next week.

That's warm, alright. Not as warm as when I was out in parts of Arizona, Nevada and Utah last week, though. A couple of times I noted the thermometer in our rental car hit 106! Although, out there, it WAS a 'dry heat,' as they say. Either way, dry or not, 106 is still pretty darn hot. The breeze felt kind of like the heat you feel when you open your pre-heated oven when you're going to put in a pizza.

Oh, well-- it IS July here in Minnesota. And it could always be worse: Remember when the mercury dropped to near 30-below zero a couple of winters ago?
