I used to say the only running I liked to do was either running from responsibility or running from authority. This year, however, I started running a couple of miles on the treadmill a few times a week, and earlier this summer, I ran my first 5K. I've even - gasp - gone running along the Cascade Trail too. While I've always liked hitting the trails on my bicycle, I never thought I'd see the day when I'd run for fun. But I actually like it! Which is why I'm looking forward to all the different activities going on this weekend, all part of Mayo Clinic's Healthy Human Race Weekend here in Rochester.

In addition to the Rochester Half-Marathon on Sunday, there's also the Kid's Race Saturday morning (featuring an appearance from the Timberwolves' mascot, Crunch), the 1-mile walk and 5K run/walk on Saturday afternoon. There's also the Health And Wellness Expo, The Expert Speaker Series, and Emergency Vehicle Displays, plus Saturday's spaghetti dinner, all going on at the Mayo Civic Center downtown. There really is something for the whole family.  You can get more details HERE.

I'll be hanging out at the finish line for Saturday's 5K run/walk, and while I won't be running the event this year, I hope to see you there-- and announce your name as you cross the finish line with your new PR, as they say. (Which stands for 'personal record'-- and yes, I had to ask what that meant...) See you on the course!
