The Golden Gophers football team is headed to the Holiday Bowl on December 27th, where they'll take on Washington State-- a team they haven't met in 28 years.

That's right, you have to go all the way back to 1988 to find the last game between Minnesota and Washington State. Yes, it was on September 10, 1998, according to GopherSports.com, when the Gophers hosted the Cougars at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.

Things didn't go Minnesota's way, though, as the Cougars ended up beating the Gophers 41-9 that day. (Hopefully there'll be a different result when they meet later this month.)

But what else was going on back in 1988? Well, I, for one, had just graduated high school (shout out to D.C. Everest Senior High back in Schofield, Wisconsin!). According to THIS SITE, the price of a gallon of gas back then would've cost you all of 91-cents.

You could have gone to see a movie for all of $3.50 a ticket. An average new car would've cost you $10,400, and the average price for a new home was a whopping $91,600.

But check this out: Back in 1988, if you wanted to buy the latest, most new-fangled home computer, you had to shell out close to $1,300! That's right, a "IBM PC with 30Mb Hard Disk, Mono Monitor and 512K Memory" could have been yours for the bargain price of just $1,249!
