When news hit that Leonard Nimoy had passed away last Friday, like most people, I thought of his long career playing Mr. Spock on Star Trek. But then I also recalled that he'd released several albums back in the late 60's-- including a version of Johnny Cash's 'I Walk The Line'. It may not have been exactly...logical... but it's true.

This article details how it came to be that an actor on a somewhat low-rated (at the time) science fiction television show also went on to sing on and release five different albums, including a few spoken word albums. I remember David Letterman spoofing a couple of Nimoy's songs on his old NBC 'Late Night' show back in the 80's, during a bit called Dave's Record Collection.
