This marks our fourth year of trying to grow a few vegetables in our two gardens, and while our tomato plants seem to be having a tough go of it, our summer squash, meanwhile, appears to be taking over.

We have two small gardens, one in our fenced-in backyard and one along side our garage. The tomatoes are residing in the backyard, and are looking a little anemic so far this year. But in our side garden, the yellow summer squash has pretty much taken over and appears to be ready to explode.

I also planted some green beans in the side garden, but the local rabbit population has pretty much eaten all the leaves, so I'm not sure how they'll develop, if they will at all. So, outside of the cucumbers, which appear to be doing fairly well (you can just barely see them making their way up the small trellis behind the squash), the side garden appears to be all yellow summer squash.

The first of what will no doubt be MANY summer squash on our counter.

Because, judging on how it's pretty much taken over all the space in the garden (as you can see in the picture), we're going to have a lot yellow squash. I'll have to look up some different recipes to see how we can use this bumper crop. (Or, I'll be the guy just leaving them in the break room downstairs with the 'Help Yourself' sign...)

How's your garden doing so far this year?
