That's right, Purple Rain, 1984 film that Prince both starred in and did the soundtrack for, will be screening Saturday night at the Theatres at the Mall of America. It's set for three showtimes, beginning at 5:20, 7:30 and 9:50 p.m.

The movie was relatively cheap to produce, even 32 years ago, for just $7 million. It was filmed, of course, right here in Minnesota. But it made more than 10 times that amount, and the soundtrack produced two number-one hits for Prince-- "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy," this CBS-Minnesota story said. It also noted the soundtrack went 13-times platinum, which means it sold A LOT of copies back then.

If you don't want to head up to Bloomington but still want to check out Prince's classic movie, this story has a way to watch it in the privacy of your own home. It says, "You can rent or buy Purple Rain on Amazon Video. And, of course, Purple Rain is available for purchase on iTunes."
