Is it now a crime here in Minnesota to simply drink a beer while watching TV in the middle of the night?

Well, it is-- if the beer you're drinking isn't yours, and the TV you're watching happens to be in somebody else's house-- and you've let yourself in without their permission. All of which is exactly what this Anoka County man apparently did.

BringMeTheNews has the story of Leroy Graham Jr., who was recently hit with several charges for his actions. The story says he was "charged with one count of burglary in the first degree, and another count of burglary in the second degree. The former charge carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and tens of thousands of dollars in fines."

So just what happened? According to the story, "When her barking dog woke her up one night in April, a woman from Blaine found an intruder in her living room, according to a criminal complaint filed in Anoka County. The man, identified as Leroy Graham Jr., was holding a flashlight the homeowner recognized as one from her own garage, where she later learned he had spent time drinking beer and watching TV while she slept, the charges say. Graham later admitted to investigators that he’d entered the unlocked garage without permission."

Yeah, that's a little strange. Luckily, he apparently didn't do anything else other than enjoy a a couple cold ones while watching TV. It's still a little scary, though. Which is why it's always good to keep those doors locked up tight when you head off to bed-- even in your garage.

So why would anyone do such an odd thing? "He also admitted to being high on meth at the time of the crime," the story concludes. That pretty much explains it...
