It's August and in the not-too-distant future, kids across Minnesota will head back to class. But just where do Minnesota schools rank compared to other states?

Pretty good, as it turns out. Which really just confirms what we already knew, right? Minnesota schools are some of the best in the country. According to WalletHub, Minnesota schools are ranked #10 on the list of states with the best schools.

Massachusetts came in at number-one. Our neighbors to the east in Wisconsin were ranked 5th, while Iowa schools were ranked just below us, at #11. The state with the worst schools? Well, that'd be Louisiana, which came in dead last at #51. (Wait-- there are only 50 states. So what's up with 51? The District of Columbia in Washington was also included.)

So how did they come up with these rankings?  According to the story the WalletHub number crunchers, "Examined each state and the District of Columbia across 17 key metrics, ranging from 'student-teacher ratio' to 'average SAT and ACT scores' to 'dropout rate.'" The results were tabulated into the list. Click on the map to see more...
