Now I Know Spring Really HAS Sprung Here In SE MN

Sure, we've had a couple of nice stretches of weather already this year. Easter has come and gone. Even the calendar tells us it's Spring. But now I know for sure that Spring really has sprung.

How do I know? Well, here's a sure sign: One of our neighbors was out mowing his lawn Sunday afternoon. Yes, even though it was only April 12th, that familiar sound of a single-cylinder lawnmower echoed down our street late yesterday afternoon. And that sound, along with the smell of freshly-cut grass, just screams Spring. (Well, and Summer, too, come to think of it.)

To my knowledge, Sunday marked the first time this Spring anyone in our neighborhood has used their lawnmower. We bought some grass seed and fertilizer this weekend, but our yard is still a little too wet to mow right now. It won't be long, though, until we'll be able to add to that quintessential sound of Spring, as well. And after enduring another long Minnesota winter, I won't even complain about it!
