Curt St. John

Curt St. John couldn’t be happier to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all he dreamed of doing. After a stint that required him to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in his hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, he did end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while he earned his degree from UW-Eau Claire.

Curt next hosted a morning radio show in Eau Claire for 15 years, and after getting married, he and his wife moved to Rochester in April of 2012. In his spare time, Curt likes to get out on the mountain bike, take their dog, Chance, for a walk, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on his next batch of home-brewed beer. Now that he’s here in Minnesota, Curt loves to follow the Twins and Wild– although he still confesses to rooting for certain MLB, NFL and Big 10 football teams that hail from a state just east of here. Curt is excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

Jeremy Lin Startles Visitors At Wax Museum

Have you ever been to a wax museum?  I've only been to one-- the Royal Wax Museum in Wisconsin Dells, and I didn't think it was all that good. (I mistook the Julia Roberts wax statue for Howard Stern-- or was it the other way around?)  But Madame Tussaud's is supposed to be pretty good-- especially their statue of LA Lakers star, Jeremy Lin. It's so good, in fact, that the when the real Jeremy Lin sat next to it, supposedly even his family couldn't tell the difference. Of course, he took the opportunity to startle a few museum visitors, too.

On Vacation: Heading To North Carolina’s Outer Banks

The countdown to vacation is on-- I'll be off for a week after Friday's show-- and I can't wait. My wife and I are flying into Norfolk, Virginia and then driving down to North Carolina's Outer Banks to spend a week among the beach and dunes. Bring it on, I say!

Ever Played Pool On A Life-Size Pool Table? Jimmy Fallon Has

Both my grandparents had pool tables in their basements when I was a growing up, so whenever we were over at their house, we usually ended up playing a game of pool. (You'd think I'd be better at the game, given my early start; but sadly, I'm still not very good...)  I also bowled in a Saturday morning league when I was a kid, as well (Same result there...).  But I can't say I ever put them together, like Jimmy Fallon did the other night!

13 Years Later: We Still Remember Where We Were

Our grandparents' generation had Pearl Harbor. For our parents' generation, it was the JFK assassination. And our generation has 9/11.  To this day, whenever I even hear that date mentioned, I'm immediately taken back to that crisp, clear fall morning when the unthinkable happened.

Need Some Good News? Boy Catches Foul Ball– And Gives It To Little Girl He Doesn’t Know

In a week where the news from the world of sports has been notoriously gloomy, thanks to the NFL's Ray Rice debacle and the sorry way it's been handled, here's some good news, for a change. Check out this video of a little boy at Boston's Fenway Park Friday night-- and check out what he does when he catches a foul ball.

Girls Defy Death By Swimming In Victoria Falls

My wife and I are headed on vacation for a week to the Outer Banks in North Carolina on Saturday. In addition to attending our niece's wedding, we'll hopefully get some time in at the beach. I'm not sure there are any waterfalls nearby, but if there are, they probably aren't like Victoria Falls in South Africa, which features a 350-foot drop-off-- that's almost twice as tall as Niagra Falls. Which is okay, seeing as I wouldn't swim right up to the waterfall, anyway-- but that didn't stop these girls!

Weird Things Couples Fight About

The folks at Buzz Feed are out with a new video that details some everyday, mundane things that they say 'all' couples fight about.  While the scenario about deciding what to do for dinner seems a little familiar, I have to say my wife and I don't really 'fight' over many of these topics

Got New iPhone Fever? Not Me…

Apple is holding another one of it's much-ballyhooed press conferences on Tuesday, where they'll reportedly unveil the new iPhone 6, as well as some sort of 'wearable' device, referred to as the iWatch.  Then, of course, the new devices will be on sale for the rest of us to purchase. And while some people will rush to plunk down their hard-earned money, I won't be one of them.

The Ohio State Marching Band’s ‘TV Land’ Tribute

I was a drummer back in high school and performed in the drum line during the fall marching band season. If I remember, one year we performed a couple of songs by the group Chicago (it WAS the 80's...).  But our halftime shows didn't quite rise to this level. See how many of these TV themes you recognize...

Ellen Asks Blake When He And Miranda Are Having Kids

Hot on the heels of the announcement that there's another Royal baby on the way (yes, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Price William are expecting baby number two), Ellen got right after Blake Shelton in this promo for his appearance on her show's season premiere  Monday, Sept. 8 (along with the other 'The Voice' judges), and asked if he'd be joining those ranks soon.
