Curt St. John

Curt St. John couldn’t be happier to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all he dreamed of doing. After a stint that required him to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in his hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, he did end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while he earned his degree from UW-Eau Claire.

Curt next hosted a morning radio show in Eau Claire for 15 years, and after getting married, he and his wife moved to Rochester in April of 2012. In his spare time, Curt likes to get out on the mountain bike, take their dog, Chance, for a walk, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on his next batch of home-brewed beer. Now that he’s here in Minnesota, Curt loves to follow the Twins and Wild– although he still confesses to rooting for certain MLB, NFL and Big 10 football teams that hail from a state just east of here. Curt is excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

What To Do If Squirrels Are Raiding Your Bird Feeder

We have a bird feeder in our backyard and every time I fill it up, in addition to the cardinals, blue jays, finches and chickadees that stop by for a bite to eat, there are a couple of squirrels and chipmunks who stop by as well. They jump on the feeder and proceed to pig out. The entire feeder is usually emptied out within a day or two, and a couple of times the shepherd's hook the feeder is hanging on has been bent over from the weight of the squirrels!  What to do? Take a look at what this guy did-- and all it took was a little Vaseline!

‘Healthy Human Race’ Weekend In Rochester

I used to say the only running I liked to do was either running from responsibility or running from authority. This year, however, I started running a couple of miles on the treadmill a few times a week, and earlier this summer, I ran my first 5K. I've even - gasp - gone running along the Cascade Trail too. While I've always liked hitting the trails on my bicycle, I never thought I'd see the day when I'd run for fun. But I actually like it! Which is why I'm looking forward to all the different activities going on this weekend, all part of Mayo Clinic's Healthy Human Race Weekend here in Rochester.

Now THAT’S A Backyard Pool

I remember there being a couple of really hot summers when I was growing up back in central Wisconsin where my friends and I spent just about everyday at the municipal pool a mile or so from our house. We didn't have our own pool in the backyard, nor did any of my friends. And, we don't still don't have one. Which is why a couple of hot and steamy days (like today and tomorrow are supposed to be) get me thinking how cool it'd be to have a pool like THIS in our yard!

Taking The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? Avoid These Fails!

Is there anyone left in the free world who has yet to do the ALS Association Ice Bucket Challenge we can't seem to get enough of on Facebook? I think I even saw that Kermit The Frog had accepted the challenge! So with the massive number of people who've done said challenge, there were bound to be a few less-than-successful attempts. Fails, you might say. So if you're still thinking about taking the challenge, you might want to avoid what these people have done...

Little League Coach Gives Team Speech To Remember

Ahh, sports. They can give you the thrill of victory. But they can also give you the agony of defeat (as the old ABC Wide World of Sports intro used to say).  So what do you tell your Little League team who's just lost a heart breaker of a game to the Little League team from Illinois -- on national TV yet?

Remember That ‘Meow Mix’ Commercial Jingle? Well, Here’s The Meow Remix!

If you grew up in the 70's and 80's like I did, and watched any daytime TV (like Gilligan's Island or maybe the Brady Bunch, which were in syndication at the time and aired in the late afternoon when you came home from school), you probably remember the classic "meow, meow, meow, meow," jingle for the cat food, Meow Mix. Well, they're bringing that classic song back as part of the new "It's Meow Time" ad campaign.

The Best ‘Ice Bucket’ Challenge I’ve Seen Yet

There have been a ton of different celebrities who have accepted the ALS Association 'Ice Bucket Challenge' recently-- from all sorts of country stars, including Tim McGraw, Kip Moore and Eric Church, to professional athletes like Joe Mauer, Aaron Rodgers and more. Even Bill Gates recently got in on the action. But the funniest challenge I've seen so far is the one Conan O'Brian did late last week...

Kevin Spacey Pranks Hillary Clinton

President Clinton's 68th birthday is coming up Tuesday (8/19), and in honor of the big day, Kevin Spacey decided to have a little fun with Hillary Clinton. Kevin, of course, plays Clinton-esque southern politician Frank Underwood in the Netflix series 'House of Cards.' He's also, as it turns out, pretty good at impressions!
