Curt St. John

Curt St. John couldn’t be happier to join the Quick Country 96.5 staff! Growing up, being on the radio is all he dreamed of doing. After a stint that required him to wear a bear suit to be the mascot for an AM station that aired Chicago Cubs games in his hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, he did end up on the radio, working weekends and overnights while he earned his degree from UW-Eau Claire.

Curt next hosted a morning radio show in Eau Claire for 15 years, and after getting married, he and his wife moved to Rochester in April of 2012. In his spare time, Curt likes to get out on the mountain bike, take their dog, Chance, for a walk, catch ‘House Hunters’ on TV and work on his next batch of home-brewed beer. Now that he’s here in Minnesota, Curt loves to follow the Twins and Wild– although he still confesses to rooting for certain MLB, NFL and Big 10 football teams that hail from a state just east of here. Curt is excited to keep you company in the afternoon and play the most continuous country on your way home!

What It Would Look Like if Couples on ‘House Hunters’ Were Honest

One of the shows my wife and I love to watch is HGTV's House Hunters. It tells the story of a couple or family looking at three different properties, and trying to choose which new home or apartment they should buy or rent. The gang at Buzzfeed, though, has come up with a video that details what House Hunters would look like-- if the couples were actually honest.

Things You Don’t Usually See On Your Way Home Here in Southeastern Minnesota

Rochester is a very picturesque city, with many developed parks, bike trails and well-manicured landscapes. So it's not unusual to see people out walking their dogs, or going for a run or walk. But what I saw on my way home Wednesday WAS a little more unique.

Drinking And Running? Yes, It’s A Thing– And It’s Called the ‘Beer Mile’

My wife and I ran a 5K called the 'Bacon Chase' last year in Minneapolis, where, after you completed the race, you were treated to as much bacon as you could eat. They even handed out some bacon bits along the route. It was kind of fun (before they ran out of bacon, that is.) But did you know there was something similar-- with beer?

Guy Tries to Flee Police by Jumping Into Lake Superior

I've never tried to flee the authorities, so I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing that if you're being chased by Duluth police, jumping into Lake Superior to try to get away isn't going to end well.

Tim McGraw’s Backstage Warm Up of Chicago’s ‘Hard To Say I’m Sorry’

Garth Brooks was one of the first country acts to reveal how he was influenced by pop music acts like Billy Joel and James Taylor. It looks like Tim McGraw was, too, judging by his recent backstage jam of this 80's pop classic.

Guy Rides Bicycle Down I-694 During Morning Rush

When I worked in a TV newsroom, we used to say, "You just can't make this stuff up," when a particularly weird story would develop. Kind of like the guy who was stopped by the Minnesota State Patrol for riding his bike down the right lane of I-694 in New Brighton during rush hour yesterday morning. Really!
