First, we should point out that the gang at Road Snacks put this list of Boring Places i in Minnesota together by looking at several numbers. They started by looking only at cities and towns with a population greater than 5,000, which gave them 141 different places. Then, they crunched these other numbers:

"To figure out how boring a place is, we rely on a complex algorithm that factors in things we generally think make people exciting, and then we figure out which cities have the least number of those exciting people. Here are some of the things people tend to think of as making a city’s population boring:

  • % of Population Over 35 (higher is more boring)
  • % of Married Household (higher is more boring)
  • Average Age (higher is more boring)
  • % of Households With Kids (higher is more boring)
  • % of Households with People Over 65 (higher is more boring)
  • Population density (lower is more boring)"

So where's the Most Boring Place in Minnesota? That'd be Lake Elmo, followed by Mendota Heights, Minnetrista, Ham Lake and Shorewood-- all Twin Cities suburbs. Closer to our neck of the woods, it appears the Lake City is highest-ranked on the boring scale, coming in at number-13. Then, Albert Lea comes in at 42, follwed by Kasson at 44.

As for Rochester, we're ranked at number-106 out of 141, which puts us well into the bottom third of boring places-- meaning, I guess, that it's NOT very boring here in the Med City. You can check the entire list out HERE. Do you agree with the list?
