Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Byron woman has been sentenced for a financial exploitation conviction.

The case against 60-year-old Marrianne Goldston was filed in 2017.

The criminal complaint says Goldston was given power of attorney to oversee the financial affairs of an elderly man who was a vulnerable adult. The man lived in several assisted living facilities and four reported unpaid bills of nearly $80,000.

An Olmsted County investigator began examining the man’s financial records and determined Goldston had been using his money for her personal use. The total taken between 2014 and 2016 was around $230,000.

Goldston has been placed on probation for 5 years. The sentencing order indicates restitution will be limited to the money owed to the nursing homes.
