Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was reported in critical condition at St Marys Hospital Thursday morning after apparently drinking too much alcohol.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Capt Scott Behrns says the 20-year-old called a friend from Eyota Wednesday night, asking for a ride home. Behrns says the man was standing on a street when the friend arrived. The friend was driving back to Rochester on Highway 52 near the County Road 11 exit around 9:15 when the man suddenly because unresponsive, apparently suffering from cardiac arrest.

The friend called 911 and paramedics arrived to find the man with no pulse. Behrns says they performed CPR until they got a pulse and then took him to the ER.

Behrns says alcohol consumption was listed as the reason for the man’s medical condition.
