Fire Reported at Downtown Rochester Apartment Complex

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Occupants of a downtown Rochester apartment building had to evacuate Tuesday after a fire was reported in one of the units.

The Rochester Fire Dept. was called to the Castleview Apartments complex along N. Broadway around 9:30 AM and found smoke on the 4th floor.

Firefighters forced their way into the unit where the fire was located and discovered it had been put out by the building’s sprinkler system. There were no occupants in the apartment.

RFD says fire and smoke damage was limited to the apartment. But water damage was reported on all four floors. RFD says “fire crews spent over an hour clearing the 4th floor of water.”

There was no damage estimate and RFD says the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The complex is operated by the Rochester Salvation Army.
