Rochester Man Convicted in Decade-Old Sexual Abuse Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man recently entered a guilty plea in a child sexual assault case.
According to Olmsted County court records, 65-year-old Stephen Matthew Robertson was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a teenage boy. The charges stem from an investigation that was opened in August of last year after a young adult male reported to police that he had been sexually assaulted by Robertson approximately 10 years earlier.
Decade-Old Allegations Lead to Conviction
The criminal complaint says the victim told investigators he was sexually assaulted by Robertson in Colorado and later in Rochester. He indicated he was between 14 and 16 years old at the time.
The court document says Robertson was interviewed by law enforcement and admitted to sexual activity with the victim in Rochester, but denied assaulting the child in Colorado.
Case Settled Through Plea Deal
He was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Under the terms of a plea agreement, Robertson admitted to one of the third-degree charges.

Robertson is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
