Man Sentenced in Rochester Recreational Trail Robbery
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man convicted for his participation in an assault and robbery along a recreational trail in a popular Rochester park has been sentenced to probation.
Assaulted and Robbed on Recreational Trail
According to Olmsted County court records, 23-year-old Munasar Mohamed and two other men attacked an Oronoco man in June 2023 on a walking path near the intersection of 7th Street Northeast and East Silver Lake Drive in Silver Lake Park. The victim told Rochester police the assailants punched and choked him before stealing his wallet.
Charged With Aggravated Robbery
The criminal complaint says an officer responding to the reported robbery and assault was able to locate and arrest the three suspects a short time later. Mohamed was identified as one of the attackers and was charged with first-degree aggravated robbery and felony simple robbery.

Plea Agreement and Probation
Under the terms of a plea agreement, Mohamed admitted to an amended charge of aiding and abetting simple robbery in exchange for the dismissal of the other charges. He has now been ordered to spend five years on supervised probation and perform 100 hours of community service.
Prison For Another Defendant
Court documents indicate the charges against one of the other suspects were dismissed, while the third man entered a guilty plea to a simple robbery charge in the case. Twenty-five-year-old Mohamed Mohamed of Stewartville was earlier sentenced to 33 months in prison.
