Rochester Man Pleads Guilty In Northwest Drive-by Shooting

Rochester, MN (RochesterNow)- A Rochester man has entered a plea agreement that settles a drive-by shooting case and two other cases against him.

Rochester police arrested 31-year-old Dwight Dominique Campbell in August of last year, following the August 16, 2025 shooting.

He was subsequently charged with drive-by shooting towards a person, reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality, intentional discharge of a firearm endangering safety and second-degree assault.

Campbell was also charged with second-degree assault and felony violation of a no contact order following the shooting. In June of last year, Campbell was charged with violation of a no contact order.

Campbell was accused of opening fire on a man in 2300 block 18 1/2 Ave. NW.

The criminal complaint said the victim was dating the mother of his children and that Campbell was texting the woman on the night of the shooting.

The victim became upset and began texting Campbell from the woman’s phone. He then went outside after telling the woman Campbell was coming over, the complaint says.

The woman said she then saw Cample drive by and fire multiple gunshots, the charges state.

Rochester police described the victim’s wounds as non-life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital where bullets were removed from his legs during surgery, according to the court document.

Plea Agreement Terms

Court records indicate Campbell has agreed to plead guilty to the second-degree assault charge in the drive-by shooting case. He also entered a guilty plea to both charges in the second-degree assault and no contact order violation case.

All other charges against him were dismissed in exchange for the guilty pleas.

Each conviction carries presumptive prison sentences of 36 months and 46 months respectively, according to the plea agreement. His sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
