I noticed this sign last weekend while my wife and I were in line to vote early here in Olmsted County, but frankly, since then, it's raised more questions than it's answered.

Seeing as it took us about a little over an hour to make our way through the early voting line, you tend to read just about anything you can to pass the time.

Which is why this sign, located on a drinking fountain (or 'bubbler,' as we used to call them when I was a kid back in Wisconsin) on the second floor of the office located on Third Avenue southeast made me chuckle when I read it.

If you look at the close up in the second picture, you can see that sign says, "Run water 30-60 seconds before drinking/cooking." One wonders why the sign might be needed, but perhaps there are some impurities in the water that need to be cleared.

That makes sense. Or, maybe the water initially isn't very cold, and running it for 30-60 seconds makes sure you get fresh, cool water.

All that makes sense. Except for the part of the sign that mentions 'cooking.' Just what are people cooking in the water fountain?!?  Hmmm...
