I've seen so many people on Facebook sharing photos of the masks they've made at home. Props to them for using their time to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic. Last weekend Governor Walz spoke about the demand for masks and encouraged Minnesotans to start making them at home to donate to frontline workers. On Saturday, you'll be able to drop off those masks. According to a press release from Olmsted County, the locations listed below will be collecting masks between 10a-2p on Saturday:

  • Chatfield Fire Department: 382 Main Street
  • Byron Fire Department: Highway 14 NW Frontage Road
  • Oronoco Fire Department: 60 2nd Street NW
  • Stewartville Fire Department: 417 South Main Street
  • Eyota Fire Department: 14 South Front Street Southeast
  • Dover Fire Department: 217 W Center Street

If you're interested in helping you can visit the Minnesota Homemade Mask Drive webpage for instructions and guidelines. If you are planning on donating masks, they should be placed in a clean plastic bag and dropped off at any of these locations on Saturday.

Rochester Fire Stations are collecting masks and materials to make masks 24/7 at these locations: :

  • Fire Station 1: 521 S Broadway
  • Fire Station 2: 2185 Wheelock Drive NE
  • Fire Station 3: 2755 2nd Street SW
  • Fire Station 4: 1875 41st Street NW
  • Fire Station 5: 305 28th Street SE
