Minnesota Woman Appears On Netflix Game Show For A $1 Million
Apparently I am spending way too much time on YouTube watching old rock/metal music videos, as I seemed to have missed when Netflix's Awake game show debuted last June. I've atoned for my sins of missing the debut of the show but I did however notice that one of our own, a Lonsdale stay at home mom participated in Season 1 Episode 2. Lonsdale's Ashley Tolzman even got some good screen time.
The premise behind Netflix's Awake is to put sleep-deprived individuals in situations to complete seemingly easy tasks. Contestants stay up 24 hours counting out dollars in quarters, which comes into play right after the contestants are introduced, and then they are put to compete in challenges like drinking the most slushie in 2 minutes or balance quarters on the end of nails.
Ashley made it past the first batch of eliminations based on counting accuracy and counting the least amount of money over the last 24 hours. It was in the second round that Ashley was eliminated.
The challenge was pretty simple, but when you are tired even the simplest things are quite difficult, smash an egg on your head the fastest when the light turns green.
Ashley succeeded in smashing the egg in 1.1 seconds after the egg didn't break in her first attempt to hit it.
Unfortunately, she was eliminated as her time was the slowest, and if you are eliminated without taking a 'buyout' you leave with nothing. However, for Ashley, she accomplished a lot on the show as she told the host that in coming to the set she flew for the very first time.
Sorry I wasn't able to salute our friend from Lonsdale sooner! But it was cool to see an area small-town person make it on to a game show, regardless of the outcome.
