Who knew pool used to be a fancy lawn game? Believe it or not, according to PoolTables.com, what we call pool today started as billiards way back in the 15th century - like croquet, but way cooler (probably).

It’s definitely come a long way since then, and today, we know who holds the title of the best women's amateur pool player on the continent!

How cool is this?! A Minnesota woman has made history by winning the 2024 Women’s U.S. Amateur Pool Championship, securing the most prestigious title in women's amateur pool.

Out of nearly 700 women who attempted to qualify, only 41 made it to the Championship Rounds. That's a pretty impressive feat, right? But to actually win the whole thing? Now that's next-level stuff!

The double-elimination tournament was held at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida last month. It was a grueling test of skill, strategy, and mental fortitude seeing the top female pool players from across North America battle it out in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball matches.

Only one can take home the grand prize however and the winner is... drum roll please... Kindra Prestegard! Hailing from the small town of Northfield, right here in the land of 10,000 Lakes, she was actually the only competitor from Minnesota to make it to the championships.

As the new champion, she’s not only earned bragging rights but also a host of amazing prizes, including a trophy, a jacket, and an all-expenses-paid trip to a pro billiard event. She’s also got a guaranteed spot to defend her title next year.
