Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Preliminary bail has been set at $2 million for a Twin Cities woman accused of the shotgun slaying of her young son.

Hennepin County prosecutors today filed a second-degree intentional murder charge against 28-year-old Julissa Thaler of Spring Park. She was arrested on Friday following a traffic stop in Mound that led to the discovery of the six-year-old boy's body in the trunk of the vehicle. A shotgun was also found in the trunk.

The criminal complaint indicates an autopsy determined the child, identified by family members as Eli Hart, had the band shot up to nine times by a shotgun and suffered gunshot wounds to his head and torso. The family members also told multiple media outlets in the Twin Cities that the boy's father was trying to gain custody of him before he was killed.  A GoFundme site has been created to help his father take care of funeral and related expenses.

According to the court document, the traffic stop was initiated by citizen complaints about a motorist driving erratically in a car that was missing one of its tires and had a shattered rear window. Following the traffic stop, the police officer involved noticed blood on Thaler's hand, a shotgun shell and a spent casing in the vehicle, along with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the back seat.

Thaler is scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
