Is This Really the Most Iconic Dessert in Minnesota Now?
Okay, dessert lovers, this one's for you… (So, pretty much everyone.)
Lovefood.com just dropped its list of the most iconic desserts in every state, and naturally, I had to see what they picked for Minnesota because when it comes to sweets, we know what we’re doing here.

From church gatherings to summer potlucks and holiday cookie swaps, dessert is basically a love language here in Minnesota. My wife even has a saying: “Two things I don’t share: my man and my dessert.” That’s how seriously we take it.
If you know your way around a dessert table in Minnesota, you probably know the Bundt cake (specifically the pan) originated from right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes Desserts… so you’d think Bundt cake might top the list, but according to Lovefood’s recent rankings, it’s not our most iconic.
Ice cream? Also a strong contender. Minnesotans find any excuse to eat it, hot, cold, even in a full-on snowstorm… it doesn’t matter.

True Minnesotans will eat a Blizzard in a literal blizzard if we have to. But as soul-southing as ice cream is, it’s not the most iconic dessert in the North Star State, either.
What is the Most Iconic Dessert in Minnesota?
According to Lovefood, it’s the seven-layer bar, which is basically souped-up Scotcheroo bars. You’ve probably had one at a graduation party or a family reunion.
Here’s what Lovefood had to say,
“The bar doesn't actually have seven layers; instead, the name refers to the seven ingredients that are used to make it – butter, Graham cracker crumbs, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, sweetened condensed milk, and nuts.”
Bars in all their different forms are Minnesotan to the core, and you can’t go wrong showing up to the party with a pan. That’s why I say Lovefood’s pick makes total sense.
