Oktoberfest Celebrations in Rochester to Add to Your Calendar
It's practically fall which means flannels, PSLs, sweaters, and beer! Ok, beer is good any time of year but Oktoberfest is coming up and there are some Oktoberfest celebrations happening right here in Rochester, Minnesota.
I've always thought it was funny that Oktoberfest isn't celebrated in October in Germany, it's celebrated in September. However, according to VailDaily, it ends when October begins and "events started earlier and earlier in the fall so people could take advantage of the longer daylight in the evenings and warmer weather." Now that makes a lot of sense!
The Oktoberfest celebrations in the Rochester area that I gathered are in both September and October. So consider adding these events to your fall calendar.
Saturday, September 24th
Festivities start at Noon at Little Thistle's Oktoberfest celebration! There will be food trucks, live music, games, and obviously beer.
Starting at 1 PM on Sept. 24th you can stop by the Kasson American Legion to celebrate Oktoberfest accordingly. They'll have kid-friendly activities there as well as live music and the Legion's Beer Mile.
Saturday, October 1st
While Haley Comfort Systems will have some of the usual fun at their Oktoberfest celebration, they're also supporting suicide prevention. A portion of the proceeds will be donated. There will be a walk in support of the cause, plenty of food and beer, a dunk tank, bags tournament, pickleball tournament, and plenty of other fun activities.
I'm sure as we get further into fall more Oktoberfest parties will pop up. You'll probably be able to find me at at least one of them!
Speaking of beer, don't miss this year's Rochester On Tap! It's October 15th at the Mayo Civic Center. Get your tickets now!
