Pie In Rochester Sold For $600…and you can taste it!
I am not the kitchen or baking expert in my family...I start my kitchen on fire. Seriously. I give HUGE kuddos to anyone that can make magic happen in a kitchen as a result, especially if it involves pies or pastries. Rochester has some serious kitchen magicians in our midst and are creating pies that sell for the hundreds...and I am just lucky enough to have a kid that has made one of those pies. ;) *Disclaimer - all kitchen magic came from his Grandma and not from this momma.
Where in the world are these magical pies being sold? Next Chapter Ministries, a local nonprofit, created an event a few years ago that features a BBQ contest and amazing pies. Both of these scrumptious food items can actually be taste tested...so if meat is more your than rather than a yummy pie, so be it. The amazing thing about all of this though is it is all for a great cause...every single bite.
Next Chapter Ministries BBQ Challenge (and pies!)
- When: Saturday, August 11th, 2018
- Time: 3pm - 6pm
- Where: Next Chapter Ministries, 710 3rd Ave. SE, Rochester, MN 55904
- The Fun Stuff Going On: BBQ Challenge (Ribs & Chicken), Pie Baking Competition, Bean Bag Tournament, open house tours, and drawings for door prizes! Bring some cash (or checks) and get ready to eat for a great cause!
- What else?! If you'd love to bring a pie...check out the website for all of the competition details! (click here)
So why are the pies worth so much money? Being part of the competition the past few years, we've learned that everyone who enters a pie brings two homemade double-crust fruit pies. Pie number one is sold per slice (and there is A LOT of pie to eat!). Pie number two - if it is one of the top in the judging - has traditionally been sold in an auction. The rules might be a little different this year but bring an appetite and your checkbook and be ready for a filling day...in many ways!
It's heating up in our city from the flames of the Next Chapter Ministries Annual BBQ Challenge. Come quench the heat of the BBQ at our Annual Fundraiser that helps us eradicate crime in the city that we all love-Rochester. - Tierre Webster, Executive Director of Next Chapter Ministries
